Laboratory Services
GeoConcepts’ materials laboratory is currently accredited through AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL), Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL), The Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories (WACEL), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As part of our responsibilities in holding these accreditations, a Quality Systems and Laboratory Manual (QSM) must be available and in force in the laboratory. This document provides details regarding training of lab staff, calibration of lab and field equipment, along with a description of the quality assurance/quality control measures that apply to laboratory data gathering, data handing, data input, and data storage. This document is reviewed annually by AMRL, CCRL, and WACEL to confirm continued adherence to the policies and procedures described. As with any working document, the QSM is updated as improvements to the manual are deemed necessary. GeoConcepts also participates in numerous proficiency sample programs to evaluate the performance of GeoConcepts’ laboratory in comparison to other participating laboratories. Proficiency sample results that are considered to be significantly out of bounds statistically initiate an inquiry into the possible cause, and if a cause is identified, corrective action is implemented.
