Sycolin Road Improvements
Loudoun County, Virginia
Client:
DMJM Harris
Services Provided:
Geotechnical Engineering Design
The project consists of widening the 2,087 feet of Sycolin Road between Tolbert Lane and Cochran Mills Road from two to four lanes. In addition, acceleration and de-acceleration lanes are planned, a median will be installed along the entire length, and a storm water management (SWM) pond is planned.
Because Sycolin Road was an active roadway, GeoConcepts
developed a traffic control plan for the field investigation
that was submitted to and approved by VDOT. In addition,
GeoConcepts contracted and managed the soil test boring
elevation and location survey for the project. The field
investigation, consisting of soil borings and asphalt cores
was completed on schedule with no significant delays or
additional costs.
