The Potomac Club development consists of approximately
1,000 townhomes and condominiums and a recreation center,
with associated roadways, stormwater management facilities,
and utilities. The development is located in Woodbridge,
Virginia, just east of I-95 between Quantico and Fort Belvoir
Military bases. GeoConcepts provided comprehensive geotechnical
and structural design services for this challenging site,
including retaining wall and slope stabilization design.
Approximately 110,000 SF of site retaining walls,
supporting up to approximately 40 feet of newly placed
fill, were designed. GeoConcepts’ field representatives
provided observations and testing of earthwork operations,
retaining wall installations, drilled pier installations,
and concrete and asphalt placement. Due to the complexity
of the project, the site development activities required
up to three full-time field representatives to meet the
accelerated project schedule.
