The proposed apartment building is located at 911 to 919
E Street, NW, Washington, DC and currently consists
of a nightclub, a McDonalds restaurant, and two vacant
properties. The proposed construction involves razing some
of the existing structures, renovating the McDonalds and
preserving a portion of the existing façade which
would be supported during construction. The planned site
development includes construction of a 12-story apartment
building, with three levels of below-grade parking. GeoConcepts
performed a geotechnical engineering study for the project
including an evaluation of subsurface conditions within
the proposed site development, lateral earth pressures
for use in design of basement walls, subdrainage recommendations
for handling of ground water during final design, and earthwork
recommendations.
