The 5.34 acre Powhatan Springs Park on Wilson Boulevard
in Arlington County features a concrete Skate Park, an
athletic field and a children’s interactive learning
center with associated parking and support facilities such
as rest rooms, administrative spaces, maintenance storage,
and a concessions area. The nearly 15,000 SF Skatepark
is the center attraction of the park and is designed for
both skateboarding and in-line skating. The athletic field
is "dug in" to the slope such that there is a
sloped bank on three sides of the field, creating an ideal
informal seating area to watch the games. The Children’s
Rain Garden is a place where children can both play and
learn about the natural environment at the same time. The
major theme of this area is the flow, collection and purification
of water, with a bioretention area.
