GeoConcepts Engineering, Inc. was contracted by the developer
of Beacon Hill Golf Course due to problems with a recently
completed earthen embankment dam that was observed to have
excessive seepage and a slope failure through the embankment.
GeoConcepts conducted a geotechnical investigation of the
existing embankment dam which indicated the seepage had
occurred due to insufficient compaction of embankment fill.
In order to remediate the seepage area, and allow the embankment
area to stay operational, GeoConcepts provided recommendations
for installation of a synthetic liner within the pond area,
and then repair of the slope failure on the downstream
side of the embankment. In addition GeoConcepts has completed
five other embankment dam studies at the subject site and
provided engineering design services for the pump station
and clubhouse and is providing construction testing services
related to site development and building construction.
