GeoConcepts provided geotechnical engineering design and construction inspection/testing services for a mixed-use development with a combination of commercial, residential, and retail components. The building featured up to five stories above grade, over 97,044 SF of retail space, 299 residential units, and three levels of underground parking.
A total of 17 test borings (14 auger test borings and three dilatometer test borings) were drilled on a widely spaced grid throughout the site to evaluate subsurface conditions. Recommendations were provided regarding foundations, floor slabs, pavements, lateral earth pressures, subdrainage, and earthwork for construction of loadbearing fills.
When the project started, a significant amount of utility relocations and new utility installations were required prior to the start of construction. Due to the extensive amount of utility relocation work, GeoConcepts provided full-time observations and documentation of the utility work as well as providing full-time materials testing during building construction.
