(GeoConcepts) is completing geotechnical engineering studies for 12 bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Staunton and Culpeper Districts. The projects were bundled under three separate contracts where GeoConcepts serves as a subconsultant on the civil engineer-led teams, GeoConcepts’ services include conducting field investigations using soil test borings and geophysical surveys where karst (limestone geology) and variable rock depth issues are present.

(ASHBURN, January 26, 2010) –GeoConcepts recently completed a comprehensive Karst Terrain Survey for a 76-mile length of a NiSource, Inc. pipeline. The survey was contracted by The Conservation Fund on behalf of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in order to identify karst features within the right-of-way of the existing pipeline. GeoConcepts utilized remote sensing technology to identify areas of potential concern along the pipeline, site reconnaissance to evaluate the areas of potential concern, and GPS technology to document and locate karst features.
