(ASHBURN, March 5, 2012) – GeoConcepts Engineering, Inc. (GeoConcepts) is completing geotechnical engineering studies for 12 bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Staunton and Culpeper Districts. The projects were bundled under three separate contracts where GeoConcepts serves as a subconsultant on the civil engineer-led teams, GeoConcepts’ services include conducting field investigations using soil test borings and geophysical surveys where karst (limestone geology) and variable rock depth issues are present.

Lewis, PE, Principal and founding owner of GeoConcepts, was recently appointed to the Dulles Corridor Rail Association (DCRA) 2011 Board of Directors.  DCRA is a non-profit organization which was formed to support rail development in the Dulles Corridor and advise community decision makers on transit-related issues, including funding, operations, station location and access, and use, and implementation issues.

(GeoConcepts) is working with GSA on one of the most ambitious redevelopment projects in the United States: the Redevelopment of the St. Elizabeth’s West Campus. The redevelopment project includes the construction of headquarters facilities for the Coast Guard, FEMA and Department of Homeland Security.

(ASHBURN, January 26, 2010) –GeoConcepts recently completed a comprehensive Karst Terrain Survey for a 76-mile length of a NiSource, Inc. pipeline. The survey was contracted by The Conservation Fund on behalf of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in order to identify karst features within the right-of-way of the existing pipeline. GeoConcepts utilized remote sensing technology to identify areas of potential concern along the pipeline, site reconnaissance to evaluate the areas of potential concern, and GPS technology to document and locate karst features.
