GeoConcepts provided geotechnical and construction inspections/materials testing services for the Modera at Mosaic District, a 250-unit apartment building built on 30,000 SF of retail and 3.5 levels of parking. The Modera is centrally located in the Mosaic District, a high profile 31-acre walkable mixed-use development in Fairfax County.
GeoConcepts drilled 16 soil test borings and conducted two dilatometer tests. The preliminary and final geotechnical engineering reports including recommendations regarding foundations, lower floor slabs, lateral earth pressures and subdrainage, pavements, earthwork, and excavation support. As a continuation of their services, GeoConcepts staff were on-site during construction of the project providing inspections and testing services. This included observation and testing of the installation of Geopiers, backfill, reinforcing steel, waterproofing, masonry, concrete, reinforcing steel, and structural steel.
