East Gate Mixed-Use Development

The East Gate Mixed-Use Development is located south of US Route 50. The infrastructure extends through the existing planned communities of Stone Ridge and South Riding, and connects the East Gate Marketplace retail center. Since 2004, GeoConcepts has provided on-going geotechnical engineering design and construction inspection/testing services for the 300+ acre community that includes a mixture of commercial, retail, and residential structures and associated utilities. In addition to the buildings at the site, the development includes a total of three stormwater management (SWM) ponds and two major roadways: Tall Cedars Parkway and East Gate View Drive, as well as improvements to US Route 50.

Subsurface conditions were investigated by drilling 87 soil test borings over three phases of development. The geotechnical studies included recommendations for foundations, SWM ponds, lateral earth pressures, pavements, rock excavation, and earthwork. GeoConcepts also performed multiple Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) at the Weidlen and Lizzio Properties to identify environmental and de minimis conditions.
