Careers - Staff Engineer
GeoConcepts Engineering, Inc., (GeoConcepts) a woman/minority owned geotechnical engineering consulting firm, has immediate openings for entry level civil/geotechnical engineers, geologists, and biological systems engineers. Located 30 minutes west of Washington, DC in Northern Virginia, GeoConcepts provides design and construction services for private and public development projects, specializing in complicated/difficult subsurface issues. We anticipate significant growth in 2008, which will provide opportunities for advancement.
Typical responsibilities for a staff engineer/geologist include:
- Coordinating and overseeing construction-related field work completed by engineering technicians
- Conduct regular site visits to construction sites to check on the status of projects, and address problems in the field
- Perform field density tests, concrete cylinders, and verification of steel reinforcement on construction projects
- Develop and monitor field investigations for design projects
- Review of soil samples obtained during field investigations and assignment of laboratory testing
- Conduct engineering analysis and calculations with guidance from senior staff
- Prepare draft portions of geotechnical engineering design reports under the supervision of senior personnel
